You might be thinking, “Why do I need a plan? Can’t I just show up and do what I want?” Contrary to what many people think, Magic Kingdom is always crowded, usually hot, and completely overwhelming if you don’t have a plan. Your edge over the other hundreds of people in the parks on the same day you are is knowledge. You will know how to plan, pivot, and switch to plan B.
For now, though, let’s focus on the basics of Magic Kingdom. Let’s start with the layout of the lands.

What are the different lands in Magic Kingdom?
The easiest way to show you what is in Magic Kingdom is to use the map.
There are currently 6 lands in Magic Kingdom. I say currently because Disney is about to add a new land. The new land will be Villians themed, but we don’t know the official name of the land yet.
Disney Magic Kingdom Lands include-
- Main Street USA
- Tomorrowland
- Fantasyland
- Frontierland
- Adventureland
- Liberty Square
We will go into each land in more detail later in the article. Right now we will get you from the parking lot to the main entrance of Magic Kingdom.
Magic Kingdom Main Entrance
Magic Kingdom Entrance can be found after you go through security and cross Seven Seas Lagoon. People visiting Magic Kingdom, better known as Guests, enter Magic Kingdom through the train station. Once you scan your ticket or pass into the park, you will be in a courtyard right in front of the train station.
On the right side of the courtyard, you will find-

Magic Kingdom Town Square

Magic Kingdom Town Square is this nostalgic place inspired by Walt Disney’s home town. He wanted to create a place that felt as safe and happy as he was when he was there. He and the Imagineers put their heads together and created Town Square.
When you walk out of the Train Station, look to your left. Here you will find-
- Main Street Chamber of Commerce- Lost and Found
- City Hall- Guest Relations and Information
- Fire Department
- Harmony Barber Shop
- the Emporium
In this corner of Town Square, you will find some very helpful information.
- Main Street Chamber of Commerce houses Lost and Found at Magic Kingdom.
- Guest Relations, Public Restrooms, and an ATM machine can be found in the Lobby of City Hall.
- The Fire Station houses a muesum dedicated to the honor of America’s Fire Fighters.
- Harmony Barber Shop is a real working Barber Shop. You can actually get your hair cut at this barber shop.
Magic Kingdom Town Square Theater

Are you ready to meet Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse? Many families have this as a number one on their list. The pictures are a popular souvinir, as well.
You will need to know where to meet Mickey Mouse. It can be very confusing if you don’t know where to find Mickey in Magic Kingdom. The first time I went, I missed meeting him and went home without the iconic photo.
You can meet Mickey & Minnie Mouse at Town Square Theater in the Town Square area of Magic Kingdom. After you pass through the train station, go right. The large beautiful building you see set back from Town Square is Town Square Theater. In case you are hungry, Tony’s Town Square Restaurant is on the left side of the Town Square Theater building.

Magic Kingdom Main Street USA

Have you ever been to a town where everyone knew everyone else? Small town America. Soda shops, bakeries, hot dog stands, and pretty dress shops. This is exactly what you will find on Main Street. The local hot dog shop is themed after Casey At Bat, a poem about baseball. The bakery is the local Starbucks shop. Town Square has a flag pole where the United States flag flies proudly. Each day at 5:00 a Veteran guest member assists in the Flag Retreat ceremony.

When guests enter Magic Kingdom, they pass through a world of simplicity and nostalgia. You are transformed from the modern world of the current year to the world of Walt Disney in his formative years. This is the type of place where you can leave your adult troubles at the gate.

Cinderella’s Castle (Cinderella Castle)
Cinderella Castle, the beautiful crown of Magic Kingdom, sits in the center of the park. Inspired by Neuschwanstein Castle in Germany, this is undeniably the most photographed castle in the world.
Many people ask how tall is Cinderella Castle in Disney World? The answer is 189 feet. It looks so much taller, right? There is a good reason for that. Disney planners utilize forced perspective to make the castle look taller.

If you wonder why they didn’t just make the castle taller, it’s because of airplanes. HUH? It’s true!
The FAA requires a red blinking light to be on top of structures over 200 feet tall. Walt Disney wanted guests to be fully immersed in the magic. Nothing says Fairytale Land and Magic like a red blinking light at the top of the gateway into Fantasyland. So, it had to be under 200 feet tall. You can fact check me at Allears.net. I learned this fact from them when I was in your shoes researching what I would find in Magic Kingdom on my first time in a very long time trip. Here is the link to their story.
What’s Inside Cinderella’s Castle?
As far as what you will find in Cinderella Castle, let’s dive into the treasure. First and foremost, you will find beautiful and iconic photo ops all around the castle. Especially while the castle is being changed from pink to blue, which is happening as this is being written. Additionally, there is a tunnel through the middle of the castle that houses beautiful artwork depicting Cinderella’s story.

If you want to meet Cinderella and some of her friends, then Cinderella’s Royal Table is the dining experience for you. This is a very exclusive meal that pairs well with Bibbity Bobbity Boutique.
Bibbity Bobbity Boutique is another premium experience. Children ages 3-12 receive royal makeovers. Young princes and princesses choose their clothes, have their hair and makeup done, and then get to meet Fairy Godmother. Finally, in the outer areas of the castle, you will also find Sir Mickey’s for shopping and meeting princesses at Princess Fairytale Hall.

Many people do not know who one of Walt Disney’s heroes was. The stories of him going to school dressed as this person only recently surfaced. This person, the one Walt Disney himself looked up to, was none other than Abraham Lincoln. One of the attractions in Liberty Square could not be completed for Disneyland because the technology to make it work had not caught up to Walt’s dream yet.
Walking into Liberty Square feels like travelling back in time. Most of this land in historic in some way. Among the many historical tibbits in Liberty Square, guests will also find-

Construction Happening in Magic Kingdom
Disney World is always in the process of upgrading something. With an environment the size of a large city, upgrade is always necessary. However, sometimes Imagineers get to create something new out of what once was.
Magic Kingdom is no different. This is being written March 2026. At this time, most of Liberty Square is walled off as the Rivers of America attraction changes to Piston Peak, a Cars themed land. A new land is exciting, even though I was sad to see Rivers of America go.
Here is what is being constructed or reconstructed in Magic Kingdom-
- Big Top Souvinirs
- Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin
- Big Thunder Mountain Railroad
- Piston Peaks
- new Villians Land being built

As always, I am happy to help you with your planning needs. When I was planning my own first visit in a long time, I used the Dreams Come True Planner you see below. I decided to make it available for others to use.
