In December 2025, my family realized a dream when we went to Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party. I’m going to share some of the things we learned along the way.
My family and I had dreamed for years of seeing Magic Kingdom all lit up with Christmas lights. My sister, my daughter, her family, and I were all working together to make the dream happen. We planned a family trip to Disney World at Christmas time!
I had no idea how much I didn’t know about Disney World until the planning began.
The Grande Welcome to Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party

Upon entering the park for the party, guests were ushered down Center Street. We were greeted by a DJ, snoap (Disney snow is made of soap bubbles) falling from the sky, and character meet and greets. This is also where we received our party wristband, complimentary ornament, and first treat of the night. I went in 2025, and the first treat was a Mickey-shaped marshmallow.
The trip down this street was truly magical. Christmas spirit was heavy in the air. For a few moments, I forgot all my troubles.

However, once we came out of Center Street and entered Tomorrowland, the energy changed. Clearly, Mickey and the gang planned a PARTY! Loud music, bright lights, people everywhere… I imagined this was what I would find at TIme Square on New Year’s Eve.
If this is your kind of party, great! You are all set. Time to decide what you want to do during your party time.
What Do You Do At Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party?

The first thing to know is that there is a lot you can do at MVMCP (Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party). In fact, guests really cannot do it all in one evening. Here is a list of some of the things people can do at the party-
- ride the rides with lower wait times (there are 17 rides available)
- meet characters that are not usually out at other times
- meet Santa Clause
- collect free cookies and drinks some party exclusive food
- watch the stage shows
- watch the parade
- watch the party exclusive fireworks
- take picures of all the beautiful decorations
- have photos of your group taken by the Photo Pass photographers
- shop (including the party exclusive merchandise)
Clearly there is too much for one person to accomplish in one night. Our strategy was going to be to visit the left side of the park on the morning before the party. Crowds were lower on this morning, so we were able to accomplish this with no problem.
Our Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party Itinerary
The problem came when we returned to Magic Kingdom for the party. I certainly underestimated the difference in atmosphere from the morning. The lighting had been lowered in places, making the party lighting really stand out. This caused difficulty seeing to get around in many places.

Our plan to enjoy the right side of the park during the party was crushed. We spent so much time trying to get the party exclusive popcorn bucket and gathering at least a few of the cookies, we were exhausted. Fantasyland was more crowded than we expected. Tomorrowland was loud and over-stimulating.
Instead of enjoying the magic of Fantasyland or the vibe of Tomorrowland, I just wanted to get away from the dark walkways and bright lights.
Rare Characters at Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party

It is important to the story of my time at the party to note that not all the characters are party exclusive. They can often be seen during a regular day at the parks. I will note which ones are party exclusive.
The characters available for Meet and Greets were-
- Mickey and Minnie in their holiday outfits- rarely meet together and outfit was party exclusive
- Santa Jack Skellington and Sally- Christmas Party exclusive (PE)
- Princess Alena of Avalor
- Mary Poppins- not party exclusive
- Gingerbread Men & Snowflakes (PE)
- Aladin, Jasmine, Abu, and Genie
- Captin Jack Sparrow
- Moana
- Stitch
- Tiana & Naveen
- The Country Bears
- Santa Clause
- Donald, Daisy, and Scrooge Mc Duck
- Pluto
- The Seven Dwarves
- Cinderella and Prince Charming
- Rapunzel and Flynn
- Anna & Elsa
- Aurora and Prince Phillip
- Snow White & the Prince
- Belle
- Ariel and Prince Eric
- Mirabel & Bruno
- Pooh, Tigger, Piglet, & Eeyore
- Alice & the White Rabbit
- Judy Hopps & Nick Wilde
What made many of the couples rare is that the Princesses are rarely seen with their Prince.
Christmas Lights in Disney

Christmas lights in Magic Kingdom look beautiful on my computer screen and television. My love for Christmas paired with my love for Disney places a desire in my heart to see the Christmas lights in Magic Kingdom in person. I believed the combination of Disney lights and Christmas lights would be a wonder to behold!

Turns out I was both right… and wrong. The warm white lights on the buildings of Main Street are beautiful. They are also on every night of the year. So, you and I can see them any time of the year. They are not Christmas exclusive.
These lights are also very bright. The lights on the garland added for Christmas aren’t bright at all. They get overpowered by the year round lights. This makes the overall effect not much different than any other time of year. Beautiful, but not worth the special trip in my opinion.
Christmas Overlays in Magic Kingdom

Several attractions in Magic Kingdom get dolled up for the Holidays. However, most of them are only viewable during MVMCP. Here is a list of rides with what Disney calls ride overlays (Holiday decorations).
- Jungle Cruise becomes Jingle Cruise
- Tomorrowland Speedway
- Magic Tea Party
- Space Mountain
- Monster, Inc Laugh Floor
Jingle Cruise is available all day, not just for the Christmas party. All the others are MVMCP exclusive.

My family and I chose to ride Jingle Cruise during the day. I am glad we did because we could see more than we would have been able to see at night.
The lights on Mad Tea Party flashed too much for my taste and the music was too loud. I didn’t ride anything in Tomorrowland because of the noise and lights.
Christmas Lights on Cinderella’s Castle

Several years back (2007 to 2019), Cinderella Castle was adorned with the Dreamlights. After the pandemic closures, Disney switched to projections on the castle instead of the actual lights.
I never got to see the Dreamlights in person. I wanted to, for sure. Now that they are gone, I am sad I will never get to see them.
That being said, the projections are beautiful and a lot of fun. There are two different projection shows. One is the MVMCP specific one. The other is what you will see on nonparty nights. The party specific projection show is paired with a stage show featuring some of the characters of Frozen.
What I Learned About Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party
Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party is a great way to enjoy Holiday magic for some people.

One more thing, I found 2025 Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party exclusive merchandise at Character Warehouse in February. You don’t have to go to the party to ge the merch.

My final thoughts… I’m not sure this party is worth is to me. Since I haven’t gone to Jollywood Nights, I think I’ll try in in 2026.
Magical Moments!
